Judy Ho, was born in Taipei, Taiwan and is a dual citizen of the United States and Taiwan. She is an American media personality, licensed and board-certified clinical psychologist, and forensic psychologist (CFMHE). She appears as a psychology expert and host on a variety of national television shows, currently appearing as a guest co-host on season 10 of The Doctors (talk show), and as a regular contributor on CNN Newsroom (CNNI), Fox 11 Los Angeles KTTV, HLN (TV network) and the Oxygen (TV channel) and Investigation Discovery channels.

Coming Fall of 2018, Ho will appear as an expert panelist on the CBS syndicated daytime talk show 'Face The Truth' hosted by Vivica A. Fox.

From 2013-2016, Ho was a recurring panelist on Dr. Drew and was a co-host on Crime Watch Daily in 2016.

Ho is also a tenured associate professor of psychology at Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology, teaching Psychopathology, Treatment Methods, and Statistical Analyses to Doctoral and Master students in Psychology.

Early life

Ho was born in Taipei, Taiwan, the daughter of Renee Ho and Robert Ho, and older sister to professional poker player Maria Ho. She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese

Education

Ho attended the University of California, Berkeley where she received her BA in psychology and BS in business administration. She completed her MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology at the UC San Diego School of Medicine / San Diego State University joint doctoral program. Her three-year postdoctoral fellowship in child psychiatry was sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health and completed at the University of California, Los Angeles Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior.

Ho is a two-time recipient of the National Institute of Mental Health Services Research Award (2004 and 2008) a.k.a. the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award.

In 2011, she became board certified (ABPP) by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

In 2015, she became a diplomate of the National Board of Forensic Evaluators.

In 2016, Ho became the recipient of the Provost's Research Award, with the goal to create a support program to help new mothers in low-income communities learn effective skills to combat postpartum depression, in partnership with WIC (Women, Infants, and Children).

Career

In 2009, Ho founded the STAGES Project, a prevention program for children which utilizes arts and music as a therapeutic intervention for at-risk students.

Ho serves as a Consulting Neuropsychologist at Bridges To Recovery, an inpatient residential treatment center for adults, and as a Consulting Forensic Psychologist at Promises Treatment Centers, a drug and alcohol residential treatment program for professionals.

A Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator, Ho conducts is retained as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases, conducting forensic evaluations and testifying for both the prosecution and the defense.

In 2016, Ho created and implemented PEP4SAFE (with the assistance of students at Pepperdine University), a scientifically-driven, no-cost psychoeducational program for parents and teachers in various school districts of Los Angeles, CA, and she acts as the Principal Investigator.

Television appearances

As a clinical and forensic psychologist, Ho has appeared on a variety of television programs as an expert, panelist, advisor and host.

In March 2018, it was announced that Ho will appear on a panel of experts including Rosie Mercado, attorney Areva Martin, and Bar Rescue's Jon Taffer, on the Fall 2018 CBS syndicated daytime talk show called Face The Truth, where the cast will provide conflict resolution for guests facing life and relationship challenges. The show will be hosted by Vivica A. Fox and is being produced by Jay McGraw and Stage 29 Productions.

From 2017-2018 she appeared as a guest co-host on season 10 of The Doctors.

Most recently she has appeared on WeTV's Marriage Boot Camp, Investigation Discovery's Blood Relatives (TV series), Oxygen's Snapped: Killer Couples and It Takes A Killer, CNN Newsroom (CNNI), Escape (TV network)'s Deep Undercover and Corrupt Crimes, Braxton Family Values, HLN (TV network)'s The Daily Share, and as a co-host and recurring psychology expert on Crime Watch Daily.

From 2013 to 2016 she was a recurring panelist and psychology expert on Dr. Drew On Call.

Past television appearances include Piers Morgan Live, CNN Tonight, The Doctors (2008 TV series), Nancy Grace (TV series), Discovery Channel's Wicked Attraction, NBC Nightly News, Snapped, Jane Velez-Mitchell (TV program), Death By Gossip with Wendy Williams, Lifetime's Killer Kids, VH1's Single with Seven, HLN's Raising America, ABC Eyewitness News, and several shows on the Investigation Discovery channel.

Ho has been interviewed by various television and print news outlets, including Life & Style (magazine), Us Weekly, Teen Vogue, KCAL-TV, and KSWB-TV and regularly contributes clinical research manuscripts to national and international psychological journals, as well as writes chapter contributions for mental health textbooks.

She appeared on the Christmas Eve episode of The Price Is Right in 2010. She made it to the shows showcase and ended up winning double showcases. Her winning total was $101,244.
