The Masters in Strategic Project Management (European), known as MSPME, was one of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus programs under the framework of European Education system. MSPME offered the opportunity to acquire expertise in strategic project management from a global perspective that covered both the engineering and project management issues.

Programme structure
The MSPME consortium combined three prestigious European Universities, where the students studied over a period of two years. Successful graduates received a master's degree award from each institution: Master of Science in Strategic Project Management (90 ECTS) from Heriot Watt University (United Kingdom), Master Universitario di I Livello in Project Management (90 ECTS) from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and Master of Science in Business Administration (60 ECTS) from Umeå University (Sweden). The MSPME programme was giving competitive Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the excellent students until the 2016 intake. MSPME had number of industrial partners, giving students the opportunity of industrial projects, placements and internships, including the Scottish Government, the Swedbank, the Autostrade of Italy etc.
Ranking
Masters in Strategic Project Management (European) ranked n°16 at Eduniversal Bests Masters Ranking worldwide . The Politecnico di Milano was ranked the 24th best technical university in the world and 7th best in Europe and the Heriot Watt University was ranked as the 3rd best British university to study economics and featured in the Academic Ranking of World Universities top 200 to study finance.

Notable alumni
Alumni survey suggested the majority of students gained employment in a variety of specialized roles, mainly at middle to senior management level, within the first six months following graduation . MSPME also provided entry qualification to doctoral study at many universities. A lot of MSPME graduates have successfully pursued a PhD degree:
